Nearly a hundred items of footwear were found in the tomb of Tutankhamun, many were stored in boxes with other articles of clothing.
Some of them are made of leather, such as these sandals, which are embellished with beadwork forming charming colored decorations, lotus and papyrus flowers, lozenge shapes and zigzag lines to symbolize water.
Unfortunately,
the leather of the lower part of the sandals has deteriorated but these
are still among the best preserved leather sandals found in the tomb.
The majority is beyond reconstruction.
