Below the bottom of the box is an ebony brace; between the space formed by this and the lower rails of the box is an alternating decoration of fretwork hieroglyphs consisting of the Ankh, "Was," and Neb signs. The lid is made of a rectangular ebony framework with a cross-rail dividing it into two panels.
